Sky Season

There is a slight resemblance to the New Zealand Fern in the structure of the upper cirrus…?

Rainy storm clouds swiftly overtake the lesser and slower moving common clouds with a high wind

I have not been keeping up with the posting schedule lately, and I am suprised at how rapidly uposted images accumulate on the to do list! I see so much cirrus these days that I have to decide whether I should snap that cirrus or wait for a better vista! The nor’wester season is now full on with an arch every now and then. This spring season is perfect for the amateur photographer (me)!

Winner of Selwyn Times weekly photo contest- my storm cloud image

Filed under: Photograpy — Tags: — Thin Smek @ 1:41 pm

You may recall this photo of a storm cloud in an earlier post. I entered this in a weekly reader photo contest at Selwyn Times for the first time and I won a double movie pass. I was quite pleased to get the prize first time, and competing against adults, too!

Below is a more recent picture in the same newspaper. Here is the original picture from my post.

Kids, lambs, chickens, blossoms, mountains, and more…

Just about all the subjects of these photos are here because of Spring, kids, snowmelt, lambs sleeping, blossoms, cropping, etcetera. I found road lights on at midday, and saw the usual Sunday glider trip. I really believe a picture can speak a thousand words, so sign off.

Sun Fanatic

When I got up one morning half a week ago, I looked to the sky and I saw a roughly diamond shaped cloud with crepuscular rays radiating from below and a sun-like reflection in the sky above. I ran outside with the camera and took quite a few photos of it and the surrounding clouds. There was even a rainbow in the west! I was sure the diamond in the sky was part of the giant pot of gold that I had discovered at the rainbows end…or at least the photographer’s pot of gold! The rest of the day was great for photos, too.
